Day 8: My 5 Current Goals (Day 8 of 30 Day Blogging Challenge)
In addition to my goals of being a good mother, a good spouse, a decent human being, and to continue bettering myself as a person, these are my five current goals for direction in my life. In no particular order:
- I want to build my hypnosis practice. Last year I became a certified hypnotist, and in the course of the past year I’ve worked with several clients to change their inner dialogue and break bad habits or form healthy habits. I love knowing I have something to offer that can help people. No, I can’t make someone quack like a duck, but I can help people quit smoking, quit biting their nails, lose weight, perform better on tests, raise their self esteem, explore their past lives, etc. I meet clients at a spiritual center in Carney’s Point, South Jersey, or I go to the client’s home.
- I want to be a blogger that gets a rather large following. I want to write blogs that people find relevant and relatable. I want to write blogs that educate, inspire, and entertain. It feels good when I get a private email that someone read a blog post of mine and it helped them in some way. That matters to me. (The two blogs I’ve received the most private emails about so far have been Every Expecting Mom Needs To Be Aware of This! and Lyme & Me.)
- I’m working on losing weight and becoming healthier. I want to have a fit physique. I don’t expect to ever be able to run marathons, but I’d like to get my body as healthy as possible and keep it that way. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far, I’ve already lost 30 pounds. How, you ask? I hypnotized myself to lose weight! I rewrote my inner dialogue so I no longer crave sugar, I crave water, and I crave exercise. This has been a fulfilling journey so far! I love the feeling of my clothes becoming too big for me.
- I want to stop living paycheck to paycheck. I’m working on getting certified to be a full time Nanny. I tentatively have a full time Nanny position secured to start in November. I still want to go back to school and get my training to become a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. I don’t want to simply trade time for money, I want to do something that provides enough income for me to take care of my family and I want to do something that makes a difference in the lives of my fellow human beings. Ideally, I’d like to get to the point where my hypnosis clientele and my blogging supports me full time.
- I wholeheartedly believe in equality for all. My current equality goal falls under children’s rights. I’m working to find a politician to take on Cassie’s Law in the state of NJ, and then I’ll work on getting it passed in the other 49 states and in DC. This community is working to get legislation in place to protect minors from sexually abusive parents. It breaks my heart to know that an adult can sexually abuse one child and still have access to their own children. Children should be protected from such parents. As of now, children have no rights to speak up for ourselves, we adults have to care enough to advocate on their behalf. And this one is really personal for me; Cassie is my daughter.
